AT MAPUTO INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE (Kindergarten) the teacher and parents work together considering all aspects of development as essential including the intellectual, physical, social and emotional aspects.

Report cards are issued at the end of each term, three times during the school year.
They help parents and guardians follow the academic and developmental progress of their child and provide an opportunity to consult the class teacher.

Kinder I
The applicant must be 5 years old by January of the coming school year and have basic learning skills.

A balanced weekly routine designed for learning, play, interaction and healthy development.
Assessment & Student Progress
Student progress is assessed throughout three school terms using age-appropriate academic and developmental evaluation methods.
Developmental Assessment
Learners are evaluated through continuous observation by the class teacher using developmental evaluation codes.
Academic Assessment
Writing ability, reading readiness, number readiness and science are graded from 0–100%. The passing grade is 75%.

Parent & Guardian Guidelines
Essential information to support a safe, organised and successful Kindergarten experience.
Attendance & Punctuality
- Regular attendance is an important part of student success.
- Children are expected to arrive at school on time.
- Three consecutive tardinesses are considered equivalent to one day of absence.
- Habitual tardiness or unexplained absences may result in an official warning.
- Parents should notify the teacher in advance in cases of illness, holidays or other justified absences.
Student Collection & Safety
Parents and guardians should strictly observe dismissal times.
Any other person collecting a child must present a properly signed authorisation from the parent or guardian and valid identification.
School Uniform
Girls: White blouse, checkered green dress, black shoes and white socks.
Boys: Khaki shirt and trousers, black shoes and white socks.
Sports uniform must be worn according to the assigned schedule. Complete school uniform is required during educational trips.
Conferences & Consultations
Parents and guardians are encouraged to communicate with the school regarding their child's progress.
Consultations with the Director, school leadership or teacher should be made by appointment, preferably one day in advance.
Circulars, Reminders & Homework
Parents should regularly check the child's school bag and reminder notebook for circulars and school communications.
Friday homework should be completed at home, signed by a parent or guardian and returned to the teacher on Monday.
Lost & Found
Lost items are presented to the children in their respective classes to allow the rightful owner to identify them.
Items not claimed within 45 days are forwarded to the school office.
School Provisions
The school provides learning materials such as:

- Pencils, crayons and erasers
- Art materials
- Tissues, towels and cups
Parents or guardians are responsible for replacing any book or notebook lost by their child.
